Ed Bott of ZD Net writes that widespread adoption of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 Tracking Protection Feature has the potential to disrupt the online advertising world. As explained by Bott, with the version of IE9 made available last week, it takes only a few clicks to download a Tracking Protection List and begin blocking third party cookies, Web beacons, and other tools designed to track a user’s movements and activities online. Ads can be blocked as well. Will IE9 become another example of a game-changing technology innovation? Will other browser-makers follow Microsoft’s lead? Stay tuned.
